Why is the trommel sieve clogged?

Cause Analysis

When the trommel screen works for a long time, its screen may be clogged. The operation mode of the drum screen is to install the drum device on the frame obliquely, and the motor is connected with the drum device through the reducer through the coupling, and the drum device is driven to rotate around its axis. According to the analysis by Chenwei technicians, the main reasons for the clogging of the screen holes are as follows:

  • Contains a large number of particles close to the separation point;
  • The moisture content of the material is high;
  • Spherical particles or materials with multiple contact points to the sieve holes;
  • Static electricity occurs;
  • The material is fibrous;
  • There are many flaky particles;
  • The wire diameter of the woven screen is too thick;
  • For thicker screens such as rubber screens, the hole shape design is unreasonable, and the upper part is not small and the lower part is large, so that the particles are stuck.
  • Screening materials with very fine particles or high moisture content.

The solution to the clogging of the trommel screen:

  • A device can be added to the fixed frame of the drum screening machine, and then the device rotates to drive the belt mounted on it to continuously beat the surface of the screen hole, so as to pump out the raw material particles blocked in the screen hole.
  • A bumper can be used for impact, which requires a sufficiently large wall thickness of the supporting ring bushing to withstand the impact of the bumper when removing clogged raw material particles.
  • Use the method of water flushing to wash away the impurities that block the screen. A stainless steel steel pipe with many small holes can be installed on the top of the drum screen, and the impurity that blocks the screen can be washed away by the momentum of the water flow.
  • When the particle size of the material is fine, the mud content is large, and the screening particle size is small, the moisture will play a decisive role in the blockage of the screen. When the moisture in the material is greater than 5%, if there is no condition to dry the material, the sieve surface and sieve holes should be selected in a targeted manner. When the moisture is greater than 8%, wet sieving should be used.
  • For materials with more flaky particles, it is necessary to change the material crushing method and the particle size matching of different crushing methods.
  • Reasonably adjusting the tension of the screen is an effective method to reduce the hole blocking of the screen. Reasonable tension makes the screen and the supporting beam produce slight secondary vibration, which effectively reduces the occurrence of hole blocking. The specific method is to make the tensioning hook into a constant force tensioning mechanism, that is, to install a spring on the tensioning bolt.
  • The screen frame of the screen machine is equipped with a small hammer, which continuously hits the screen frame, and the materials blocked on the screen will fall off automatically with the impact of the small hammer. Or add an external cleaning device to clean up the sundries attached to the screen.
